First Annual Change for Kids in the Chippewa Valley

e are so excited to announce the launch of the Chippewa Valley’s first annual Change for Kids event next month! On Tuesday, August 14th from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, area kids are invited to drop off their change at Northwestern Bank locations in downtown Chippewa Falls, River Prairie, or Lake Wissota. All donations will benefit local moms and children in need in our community. Other sponsors include Olson’s Ice Cream, Northwestern Bank, Hope Gospel Mission, and Down to Earth Garden Center.

Hope Gospel Mission is seeking to raise the remainder of the $1.6 million needed to purchase and renovate existing facilities on Frank Street in Eau Claire for the new Hope Renewal Center For Women and Children. The Hope Renewal Center For Women and Children will provide a safe, stable home and programs for more single women struggling with homelessness and addiction and will begin services to care for single women with children. This facility will provide:
● 11 units for women with children
● 14 beds for single women
● Classroom & computer lab
● Educational daycare services
● Conference & training rooms
● Area for hobbies & crafts
● Garden area to grow fruits & vegetables
● Outdoor play area
● Kitchen for residents & volunteers to prepare & cook meals
● More one-on-one training & case management with additional meeting rooms and offices

All children who donate their change will receive a coupon for a small cone/bowl at Olson’s Ice Cream. Olson’s Ice Cream will also be hosting a “Scoop of Hope” event every Tuesday evening from 4:00 pm to close at both their Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire stores in August and will donate 10% of sales during this time to Change for Kids.
