Molly Filipczak of C&M Home Builders weighs in on the wallpaper trend in Queen Of The Castle Magazine
Molly Filipczak, owner of C&M Home Builders and Real Estate, knows a thing or two about decor. She shared some of her design know-how in the March issue of Queen of the Castle Magazine, discussing the revival of wallpaper.
Waking up to... wallpaper? This decor trend is on a roll again.
As seen in Queen of the Castle Magazine:
I bet 70 percent of us have done it.
We likely hated it.
Ripping off wallpaper is one of the dreaded duties of home ownership. So when we noticed wallpaper making a comeback faster than you can mix stir your paste, we wanted to know what is up!?!
Molly Filipczak, with C & M Home Builders and Real Estate, designs award-winning homes and decorates them to a tee. We asked her to tell us how the wallpaper trend is different this decade around.
Sarah: How is wallpaper making a comeback?
Molly: In fun and interesting ways! Gone are the days of obnoxious florals or way too much fruit (like we had in my house growing up) and in their place are simple and modern motifs and color palettes, perfect for adding a touch of texture or elegance depending on your particular style.
Sarah: What are the trends in prints?
Molly: Geometric patterns are on point for a modern look that still has a cozy feel. There are also some really fun "neutral" patterns that just add a layer of texture, similar to these from Anthropologie.com which I would love in my house. Check out 'Woods' and 'Glowing Pebble' for some seriously gorgeous wallpaper!
Sarah: How is it different than the 80’s wallpaper that we all peeled off our walls?
Molly: Wallpaper today is not nearly as "themed" as it was in the past, you won't see much in way of geese, fruit in any format, or heavily-colored florals.
Sarah: What do you recommend to women trying to implement it these days?
Molly: Since wallpaper is such a commitment, I think it's best to start small with a room you're looking to do something fun and different in, such as a powder room or home office. A bold, patterned wallpaper would be great as an accent wall in a master suite, or even as a kitchen backsplash for something out of the box!
